About Me
- Name: John M. Harrell
- Location: Eugene, Oregon, United States
I'm a student at the University of Oregon and interested in too many things to pick a major. I play viola and dabble in video games and electronics in general. People who know me consider me a friend, or free technical support, or both.
Quote of the Week
-
"Jesus was the only One that ever raised the dead...and He shouldn't have done it. He thrown everything off balance. If He did what He said,
then it's nothing for you to do but throw away everything and follow Him, and if He didn't, then it's nothing
for you to do but enjoy the few minutes you got left the best way you can—by killing somebody or burning down his house or
doing some other meanness to him."
-The Misfit
from Flannery O'Connor's Wise Blood

Man, he didn't really make Dawkins look like anything. It was just a bunch of ad-hominem attacks. There wasn't a discussion of Dawkin's CONTENT but rather his TONE. I could sit here and explain how the Segway is safe and be completely smug and a jerk about it, but you need to argue with my arguments, not the fact that I was a jerk.
There was nothing about this talk that was intellectually stimulating for me.
i'm not sure i understand your point, but i am pretty sure that he did argue the content as well as the tone, and the tone only in some places.
Perhaps it's not the type of argument you're accustomed to, or perhaps you were expecting something different... I believe mcgrath's points are not only legitimate, but true.
